What the…. KLUTCH???

The KLUTCH is an Award-Winning weighted support rest for your Guitar, Bass, or other stringed instruments.  Extremely portable, simple to use and is a lifesaver when you have limited space or do not have another stand with you. If fits in your guitar case, gear bag, back of an amplifier.  Use the KLUTCH on tables, chairs, and amplifiers.  Use on stage, off stage, practice rooms, home studios. It also has dual use as a neck support to change strings and do instrument maintenance.

Simple To Use

Just set the KLUTCH on the edge of a solid flat surface and it stays in place, ready to support your instrument.  Then simply lean your guitar or bass in the neck pocket and you are good.  It is not designed to hold or suspend the guitar or bass off the ground.  It is the perfect addition to the other types of guitar stands you may be using.

There is nothing to fasten down.  The KLUTCH is scientifically designed and weighted to grip on multiple types of flat surfaces to reduce sliding or slipping.

Common Questions and Answers

Q: What is the KLUTCH made out of?

A: It may seem like some type of rubber, it is not.  What is being used is a Thermo Plastic Vulcanate or TPV for short.  This TPV is dual purpose for the product.  First using a TPV over a rubber compound allows the product to be Nitrocellulose safe.  No burn marks or scorching on the high-end guitar finishes which may happen due to the chemical reaction Nitro can have with rubber.  The second reason for the TPV is that the product is not an outlawed material in many countries, where many forms of rubbers and other types of plastic compounds are for environmental concerns.  This allows the KLUTCH to be shipped globally with minimal restrictions.

Q: I lean my guitar in the neck pocket and the bottom of my guitar is on the floor?  Is that safe?

A: Safe is a relative term in this question.  It also is the most common question we do get at trade shows and with artists.  Yes please, in as many situations as you can use a rack, wall mount, or some type of tube framed stand to rest your instrument in. However, there are many, many, many situations where you just have to sit the guitar down for a few minutes or even a few hours.  This is where the KLUTCH is the best solution.  Sit it on an amp versus learning the guitar on the amp.  Coffee table practice, again use it to lean and support over setting the instrument on the couch or just quickly leaning it on the coffee table just for a moment only to hear that dreadful sound of it sliding and falling to the ground. Hotel room and all the gear is still on the tour bus or van, KLUTCH again to the rescue or the instrument leaning against a nightstand.  We have never spoken to a musician that has never rested the guitar against something for a minute or two during studio work, practicing, or even backstage.

Q: How does it support the neck?

A: The material used in making the KLUTCH become a real nonslip surface for most guitar neck finishes. The neck pocket allows the instrument to rock or move a little within the pocket so if the instrument was accidentally kicked or knocked against the material tends to prevent it from sliding off.  There is no perfect stand when it comes to fully protecting your instrument, even in the case or rack.    Being mindful of what limitations any stand has is the best thing you can do to protect your instrument from possible damage.

Q: What Awards are you referencing?

A: Under the Axe-Handler name, the product was awarded Best in Show for product accessory in 2017 by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).  The original product has also been featured in Guitar World, Music Is Win, Gear Gods, and was the first non-instrument product licensed by ESP.

Q: How long has the product been out?

A: The inventor of this product originally marketed the product and its sister product line as the Axe-Handler by a company called RE-Axe Products. Initial sales of the product started in 2010 after several years of product development.   That company is no longer in operation, but the holders of the US Patent have continued to manufacture and sell the product under its more universal name as the KLUTCH.  We market the product is several other markets for other specific uses so the KLUTCH was just a better name to use.  It is not at all a new product and there are tens of thousands of the Axe-Handlers still being used everyday by folks all over the world.

Q: Can I get it in music stores?

A: There are some music stores around the United States that sell the KLUTCH product line.  Our main website (www.getaklutch.com) will have a retail store directory section where you can enter your zip code to see if there is a local music store selling the KLUTCH.

Q: How do I become a distributor or sell it in my store?

A: We are happy to offer our product line to local based music stores and some smaller chains.  There are some conditions such as MAP pricing and marketing guidelines, however, the goal is to give your store some good margins so it makes sense to sell it.  Please send us an email to start a conversation and receive information about our retail programs.  We do need to verify you are a brick and mortar local music store before we can send out our pricing and guidelines.

Q: Are there artist endorsement deals available?

A: As a professional artist, if you like and use our product, we can set up several tiers of endorsement agreements.  There are also options to custom brand the product with your logo or your bands logo to use as artist merchandise.  We consider a professional artist as someone who tours on a regular basis, has a base of followers, currently is being endorsed by other music product makers, and needs to be willing to make videos, social media posts, and possibly appear at trade shows representing the product line.  If you feel you may be a good fit for being a product endorser, please send an email to j.cutler@coltscompanies.com to start a conversation.

Q: I am a product influencer, can I get paid to promote the product?

A: There are a few different ways a product influencer can work with our company and be able to get some compensation.  The structure is similar to how we work with professional artists in allowing them to have special purchase links to our product lines so when orders come in through that link we can then track those orders and provide a royalty agreement per KLUTCH sold.  If interested, please send an email to j.cutler@coltscompanies.com and we can start the conversation there.
